| Kal Matharu Position: President & CEO Kal Matharu leads Tanzania Minerals Corporation with vision and purpose and a unique set of skills that allows him to navigate fluently between the business communities of North America, Europe and Africa. Mr. Matharu is a Canadian citizen but also a third generation East African, fluent in both English and Swahili, politically and culturally saavy on both sides of the globe. A true entrepreneur, he grew to adulthood between North America and Africa, having educational experiences in both worlds and a well established and rooted business family based in Kenya and Tanzania. He is a graduate with a BSC from the University of Manitoba. Mr. Matharu started his career with Watkins Incorporated as Director of Market Analysis before leaving to join Minnetonka Brands in Minnesota as Director of Forecasting. Mr. Matharu started his independent business career in 1997 when he launched Petron Plus Canada Inc. Several years later, recognizing opportunities in East Africa, he developed a strong network in the resource sector and is the founder of Tansmin, the wholly owned subsidiary of Tanzania Minerals Corp. Kal Matharu has an ability to act as a bridge between the world of finance and the emerging gold sector in Tanzania. It is founded on developing strong relationships, taking necessary but calculated risks and recognizing and correctly evaluating opportunity. His visionary work as President of Tanzania Minerals Corp. has brought the company from private to public. | |
| James Walchuck Position: Director Bringing over 31 years in the resource sector to the company, James Walchuk is the ex-President & CEO of Tournigan Energy (formerly Tournigan Gold), and has overseen the development of mines in West and East Africa. Mr. Walchuck was the Manager of Mining for Barrick Gold at Tanzania's Bulyanhulu Gold Mine from 1999 until 2002. There, he oversaw the building of a multi-million-ounce, high-grade underground mine in 24 months and achieved over 2 million man-hours without a lost-time accident. Mr. Walchuck also served with Royal Oak Mines as Manager of Mining and Manager of Corporate Operations. This was preceded by a 5-year term as Chief Mining Engineer for Tarkwa Goldfields in Ghana. He is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario for 31 years, and holds Bachelor Degrees in both Science and Engineering. | |
| John Knowles Position: Director Mr. Knowles has 25 years of experience in senior roles in Canada and overseas with Canadian and international resource companies. He is currently a director of HudBay Minerals Inc. He is the President and CEO of Wildcat Exploration Ltd., prior to which he was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Aur Resources Inc. For nine years he was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Co., Limited and, following its acquisition by HudBay, he was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of HudBay. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen's University. | |
| Robert Dzisiak Position: Director Robert Dzisiak is the current President and CEO of R.J. O'Brien & Associates Canada Inc an IIROC member firm. He was the past President and CEO of CFG Canada which he started as a branch office of LFG,LLC in 1994. CFG was subsequently sold to Refco Canada where he served as President of Retail Operations until 2006. Rob has a Masters degree in Agricultural Economics and started his career as a consultant with Wharton Econometrics in Philadelphia. He subsequently worked in strategic planning for UGG and was the Canadian VP of Operations for Benson Quinn Co. Rob is a past Chairman of the Winnipeg Commodity Exchange where he also served as a director of the Winnipeg Commodity Exchange Clearing Corporation. Rob has also spent several years in the public markets where he worked as the COO of a Merchant Bank and as a director/Chairman of several publically listed companies. | |
